Video: Evolusi BMW M3 (E30) Lahirnya Sang Legenda

MUENCHEN, January 2, 2016 - The BMW M3 (E30 ) is the first generation of cars that define what a sports sedan should be. Manufactured between 1985 and 1992, the BMW M3 is claimed to be the most successful touring car ever built.

BMW plans to launch a 5 video series detailing the evolution of the M3. The video above is the first in a series of five.

Outwardly, the M3 is similar to the regular edition 3 Series. The BMW E30 M3 uses body panels designed to improve aerodynamics and a larger wheel housing to accommodate larger wheels. This model is powered by a 2.3 liter twin-cam 16-valve four-cylinder S14 engine that produces 195 PS of power to the rear wheels.

The gearbox uses a five-speed manual Getrag 265. The BMW M3 uses a stiffer chassis and suspension tweaks at the front plus a stabilizer and steering redesign to improve later responsiveness and stability at high speeds.

The BMW E30 M3 underwent several revisions, namely Evolution and Sport Evolution. In addition to the revised aerodynamics level, the Sport Evo uses a 2.5-liter engine that pushes out 238 PS of power.

Initially, BMW only set a sales target of 5,000 units. In fact this model sold up to 18,000 units even though the price was one-half times more expensive than the usual 3 Series at the time, the 325i. A legend was born.
